Charleston, WV - Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and West Virginia Office of Emergency Services officials continue response and recovery efforts for those affected by the severe winter storms Feb. 16.

A total of $1.2 million has been approved for the Individual and Households Assistance Program (IHP) that includes Housing Assistance (HA) and Other Needs Assistance (ONA). HA may include lodging expense reimbursement, repair assistance and temporary rental assistance. ONA may include medical, dental and funeral expenses; furniture, clothing and some appliances; vehicle costs (up to state limits); and other eligible expenses.

County breakdown of eligible applicants follows:

No figures are available for the 11 add-on counties: Calhoun, Fayette, Greenbrier, Mason, McDowell, Mercer, Nicholas, Raleigh, Upshur, Webster and Wyoming.

The U.S. Small Business Administration has approved $340,900 for home and business loans.

Four Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) are open in Roane, Lincoln, Cabell and Kanawha Counties. Four DRCs will open next week in Cabell (different site), Raleigh, Nicholas and Mingo Counties. Locations for future DRCs are being evaluated. DRCs are designed to provide applicants with an opportunity to discuss their needs with personnel from state, federal and voluntary organizations who can answer questions and provide recovery information about various programs available to individuals and business owners.
