"We remain committed to helping individuals recover from the April Nor'Easter," said Federal Coordinating Officer Mike Parker. "These Disaster Recovery Centers are places people can go to sit down with recovery specialists, learn about the status of their applications, or to learn how to rebuild in ways to avoid future losses."

Before visiting any DRC, those with damages and losses in the seven declared counties are urged to apply for assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The hearing- and speech-impaired may call TTY 1-800-462-7585. Operators are standing by at both numbers between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. seven days a week. Individuals can also register for assistance online at www.fema.gov.

"I encourage Norwalk area residents to contact FEMA as soon as possible to report damages they may have incurred in the Nor'easter," Governor M. Jodi Rell said.  "Now is the time to file your reports.  Federal officials are here to help Connecticut residents right now, so the people of greater Norwalk should put this at the top of their to-do lists.  Help is now just a phone call away."

Anyone with questions about disaster loans can visit the Small Business Administration (SBA) in the Disaster Recovery Center or call the SBA Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955.  Online information: www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance.

Connecticut counties where individual assistance is available are: Fairfield, Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London and Windham.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
