SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Volunteer attorneys are offering free, disaster-related legal assistance to individuals affected by the severe storms and flooding in the declared counties.

The Young Lawyers Division of South Dakota State Bar Association, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), is providing legal counseling and referrals to residents by calling toll-free to 1-800-952-2333.

The phone line is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Each call is referred to a South Dakota-licensed attorney, who will contact callers to discuss their disaster-related needs.

The volunteer attorneys can advise callers regarding legal issues related to the disaster, including:
