PISCATAWAY, N - The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 214 Church St., in Bound Brook, is closing Wednesday, June 13, federal and state disaster officials announced today. The DRC will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for its final day of operation. This is the last DRC to close of the 13 opened statewide.

The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Small Business Administration opened the DRC to provide face-to-face assistance and disaster information to individuals and business owners who suffered damage from the April nor’easter storm.

The Bound Brook DRC has assisted more than 1413 Somerset County residents since opening April 29. Residents of the area who subsequently need assistance can reach recovery experts by calling the FEMA helpline at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech and hearing impaired. Both lines are operational from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, until further notice.

FEMA’s temporary housing assistance and grants for public transportation expenses, medical and dental expenses, and funeral and burial expenses do not require individuals to apply for an SBA loan. However, applicants who receive SBA loan applications must submit them to SBA loan officers to be eligible for assistance that covers personal property, vehicle repair or replacement, and moving and storage expenses.
