Severe Weather Hits Texas

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The National Weather Service (NWS) reports a band of thunderstorms and high winds moved across north and central Texas yesterday. The primary impact area was east-northeast of Interstate 35 from Denton to Hillsboro.

Local officials report some degree of roof damage, downed trees and power lines in several counties. There was also minor flooding that closed some roads temporarily. All power has been restored.

FEMA's regional office in Denton, Texas (Region VI) continues to monitor the situation.
