Seattle, Wash. -- Seattle Disaster Aid and Response Teams and Seattle Project Impact will host a special community forum Saturday, April 10, 1999 at Ingraham High School from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The "Disaster Saturday" forum will include featured speakers, "how-to" workshops, videos, exhibits and on-line computer demonstrations. Forum topics include Y2K preparedness, landslide and earthquake hazard mapping, structural refitting of homes, non-structural refitting of schools, electrical and generator safety, and pet preparedness. According to Seattle Emergency Management Director Jim Mullen, the Disaster Saturday workshops offer Seattle residents "one-stop shopping" for answers and information about minimizing the effects of both natural and "man-made" disasters.
