Disaster Recovery Teams to Visit Glenwood Springs

Denver, CO -- City and county officials have designated a location for state and federal disaster officials to set up a Disaster Recovery Center in Glenwood Springs to provide individuals and businesses of the Colorado wildfires information about disaster aid.
The Recovery Teams, provided by the state of Colorado and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be available from Wednesday, June 26 to July 6, at 1317 Grand Ave. in Glenwood Springs. Representatives will be on hand daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed on July 4).
Recovery Teams will offer detailed program information to evacuees who have already applied for assistance but who may have further questions. Representatives of state, federal, and voluntary agencies will be available, including the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
"We encourage affected residents to visit the center, but the only way to apply for disaster assistance is by calling the FEMA toll-free registration number," said Director of the Colorado Office of Emergency Management Tommy Grier. "The Recovery Teams' main function is to give individuals a chance to meet face-to-face with our representatives."
Individuals are encouraged to apply by using FEMA's registration number 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) before visiting the center. Those with hearing- or speech- impairments may call toll-free TTY 1-800-462-7585. The registration lines are operational from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week.
"We realize that there are many people in rural areas of the declared counties who have questions on available assistance and recovery programs," said FEMA's Federal Coordinating Officer Steve Emory. "We're trying to make the recovery easier by bringing these teams to them."
