Beckley, WV -- Starting this week, state/federal Disaster Recovery Centers in West Virginia will be closed on weekends. They will remain open Monday through Friday. The hours of operation continue 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Applicants for flood assistance have made nearly 3,000 visits to the centers. Disaster officials note that most current visits, however, occur on weekdays -- Monday through Friday, with very few on the weekend.

The centers were set up by the West Virginia Office of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. They provide disaster victims with answers to questions, recovery information and written materials about various assistance programs available to individuals and business owners damaged by storms, flooding and landslides of early May in southern West Virginia. These disaster programs include temporary housing assistance, low-interest disaster loans, and grants for serious needs and expenses not covered by other disaster assistance programs.

Disaster Recovery Centers operate at the following locations:

Main Street (Rt. 83)

Coalwood
Side of Country Store
Rt. 16 and Frog Level Road
