New Hours for FEMA Disaster Application Hotline Start November 22

RALEIGH, N.C. -- New hours of operation will go into effect Monday, November 22, for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) disaster assistance application line and helpline. The new hours will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Homeowners, renters and business operators who suffered uninsured losses from hurricanes Floyd or Irene but haven't applied for assistance are urged to do so as soon as possible. The deadline for applications is 6 p.m. December 14, 1999. People may register for assistance by calling 1-800-462-9029 (TTY 1-800-472-7585).
North Carolinians with questions about applications already filed may call the FEMA helpline, 1-800-525-0321, or visit a FEMA/state disaster recovery center. Applicants with questions about letters received from FEMA also may call the helpline or visit a recovery center.
Officials also announced that disaster recovery centers, the FEMA help and application telephone lines, and all federal and state disaster recovery centers will observe the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, Novembere 25, but will resume regular hours and operations on Friday, November 26.
More than $367,500,000 has been approved for North Carolina disaster housing assistance, individual and family grants, Small Business Administration (SBA) loans, and special disaster unemployment benefits.
