RALEIGH, N.C. -- People who lost their homes to Hurricane Floyd and were assigned travel trailers as temporary housing are being asked to notify the state housing officer if they are not living in the unit or no longer need it.

The toll-free number is 1-800-770-1348.

Officials said travel trailers are provided as temporary housing only and are not considered suitable for long-term living. Those who have been inquiring about purchasing the units are being advised they will not be sold.

The application period for disaster assistance closes 6 p.m. Dec.14, 1999.
