Philadelphia, PA -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved a $108,182 grant to the Maryland Emergency Management Agency for the purchase of NOAA weather radios for each public school in the state's jurisdiction. The total cost of the project, with state and local contributions, is $114,884.

The federal funds come from the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, a keystone of FEMA's efforts to reduce risk from future disasters by breaking the disaster-repair-disaster cycle, thus saving economic and emotional costs.
