LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management (ADEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announce the opening of a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Pulaski County for those affected by the storms that began May 2. The center is at the following location:
5204 W. Hensley Road
Hensley, AR 72065
Open May 29 through June 21, 2008
Hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday
Disaster victims are encouraged to register for assistance before they visit by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the hearing- or speech-impaired. Lines are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Those affected by the tornado can also register online at www.fema.gov.
Registering before visiting a DRC will shorten your time spent at the center. Visiting a DRC is not required to be considered for assistance.
Representatives of state, federal, voluntary agencies and the U.S. Small Business Administration will be available to answer questions and provide recovery information. Written materials about various assistance programs are also available to individuals and business owners. No cash, checks, debit cards or vouchers are distributed at DRCs. Centers are for the dissemination of information to assist in disaster recovery.
FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
