Federal Response to Colorado Tornadoes

President today authorized the release of federal funds to assist homeowners, renters and business owners in Weld and Larimer counties. Within hours after the President’s declaration:

A seven-member FEMA community relations team arrived in the hardest areas going door to door. This team, which includes Spanish-speakers, is helping residents register for federal assistance.

Two Mobile Emergency Response units are arriving in Weld County providing communications support. One of the units will assist in the set up of a state/federal disaster recovery center. The other unit will provide additional support at the Windsor local response center.

A FEMA logistics team, in coordination with the state and local officials, is surveying locations for establishment of the multi-agency disaster recovery center.

A FEMA information desk has opened at the Windsor local response center, and is providing the community information about federal and state disaster assistance programs that have been made available as a result of the President’s declaration.

A four person federal photo and video documentation unit is on the ground in Weld county. This team is assisting state, local, and federal agencies document the impact of the event, local response efforts, and damages.
FEMA continues to monitor the severe storms and tornadoes across the nation and work with federal, state and local partners to identify needs and resources needed to respond to respond to them.
