FEMA hosted Hurricane Awareness day at FEMA headquarters to. The purpose of the event was to highlight the federal government’s preparations for the 2008 Hurricane Season.

The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is teaming up with its federal partners to present Hurricane Awareness Day 2008. Today’s event is open to all – Washingtonians, visitors, Members of Congress and staff, and the news media.

Participants will hear from Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff , FEMA Administrator R. David Paulison, and other senior leaders from government and the private sector – all of whom will speak on the joint activities being planned this year and their efforts to improve coordination when helping communities prepare for, respond to and recover from hurricanes.
