» More Information on Missouri Severe Storms and Flooding

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the State Emergency Management Agency today are recognizing those organizations which donated space so that people impacted by the mid-March storms and flooding could receive one-on-one assistance in the FEMA/state Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs).

DRCs are established following disaster events to help individuals with the registration process for FEMA assistance. The DRCs provide a community resource where disaster recovery specialists from local, state and federal agencies and voluntary agencies can present information on help available to those impacted in the disaster.

Disaster Recovery Centers in the disaster-affected regions logged more than 2,580 contacts with registrants for FEMA assistance. FEMA has approved $11.28 million in assistance to individuals and households since 35 counties were authorized to receive help due to the severe storms and flooding. Some 5,366 people have registered for assistance so far, with all registrations due by May 27.
