ORLANDO, Fla. -- After serving nearly 400 Tropical Storm Fay survivors, the Disaster Recovery Center in Lee County will close this week.

The recovery center in Bonita Springs will cease operations Saturday at 6 p.m. The closure is based on a steady decrease in visitors to the center in the last week, according to state and federal recovery officials.

The Lee County center is located at:

Bonita Springs Recreation Center
26740 Pine Ave.
Bonita Springs, 34135

Until Saturday's closing, the center will continue to serve homeowners, renters and businesses affected by Tropical Storm Fay. Survivors can still stay in touch with a recovery specialist by using the FEMA helpline option at 800-621-FEMA (3362) or the TTY line for the deaf, hard of hearing and speech impaired at 800-462-7585 from 7 a.m. to midnight daily until further notice. On the Web, disaster information and registration remains available through the FEMA toll-free helpline as well as through the 24-hour Web site at www.fema.gov.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
