MADISON, Wis. -- The following is a summary of information released during the week of Aug. 30 through Sept. 5 by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) from the Wisconsin Joint Field Office for Disaster 1768, severe storms, tornadoes and flooding.

Federal Aid To Wisconsin Not Affected By Hurricane Gustav
(Date of Release: Sept. 3, 2008)

The impact of Hurricane Gustav will not change any of the services the federal government is providing in Wisconsin. Emergency management officials said FEMA is organized and staffed to handle multiple disasters and will be on hand to help meet the needs of Wisconsin residents affected by June and July severe storms and flooding.

Don't Let Rental Assistance Lapse - Update Your Status With FEMA
(Date of Release: Sept. 5, 2008)

Residents receiving rental assistance from FEMA due to this summer's severe storms and flooding should let FEMA know if they still need housing assistance. Wisconsin residents may have received emergency grants to pay for alternate housing when their homes were made unlivable or became inaccessible because of severe storms and flooding. These short-term grants can be renewed only if residents file a Declaration of Continuing Need for Temporary Rental Assistance. The declaration forms are mailed to all applicants who receive rental assistance about two weeks after rental assistance begins. Applicants must fill out and return the declarations to FEMA before they can be considered for an extension of rental assistance beyond the initial grant. Residents declared eligible for disaster assistance should call the FEMA helpline at 1-800-621-3362 if they have questions about their emergency rental assistance.

WISCONSIN DISASTER AID TOPS $90.3 MILLION
(Date of Release: Sept. 5, 2008)

More than $90.3 million in state and federal disaster assistance has been approved for Wisconsin residents affected by June and July severe storms and flooding.
