Summer 2008:
There will be three four-week blocks plus an abbreviated "zero" block that begins
immediately after final examinations end.
Block 0:
Thursday, 8 May - Friday, 23 May 2008
Block 1: Saturday, 24 May - Friday, 20 June 2008
Block 2: Saturday, 21 June - Friday, 18 July 2008
Block
3: Saturday, 19 July - Wednesday, 13 August 2008
Typically, block activities start on the first work day of the work week. Midshipmen often have to be at the Naval Academy on the weekend directly preceding or that starts a block, to attend briefings about upcoming evolutions. Weekend dates may be requested as part of an approved summer educational experience to allow for travel time or pre- or post-briefings.Review the guidance memo at the link above to appreciate how summer educational experience opportunities ("internships") will fit into the scheduling matrices for the Summer of 2008.
