Biography of Kate King, M.P.A.

Kate King, M.P.A. has managed Medicaid programs or conducted health policy analysis on issues related to the organization, financing or service delivery for long term care and other special populations for 28 years. As a Health Insurance Specialist at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in Baltimore, she is currently working on several projects related to the President’s New Freedom Initiative, including direct care worker issues, for which she is the CMS lead. Prior to Federal service, she served in the Maryland Medicaid program for 17 years, consulted at major health organizations while completing her doctoral residency at Brandeis University, and was a policy analyst at the Institute of Medicine for five years. She currently has a fellowship on Balancing Long Term Care Systems sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
