USDA SENDS $9 MILLION IN CONSERVATION FUNDS TO HELP PRODUCERS AFFECTED BY HURRICANES KATRINA AND RITA
Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns today announced $9 million in Emergency Conservation Program (ECP) funds are now available for Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas producers to repair environmental damage caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. These funds are in addition to more than $20 million in ECP funding provided on Sept. 7.

USDA AND DUCKS UNLIMITED WORK TOGETHER TO CREATE WILDLIFE HABITAT
USDA and Ducks Unlimited agreed to work together to maintain and enhance waterfowl and other wildlife habitats in the United States. Steve Connelly, assistant deputy administrator for farm programs, with USDA�s Farm Service Agency (FSA), signed a Memorandum of Understanding Sept. 17 with Ducks Unlimited (DU) Executive Vice President Don Young.

JOHANNS ANNOUNCES GONZALEZ AND LITTLE TO ASSIST WITH USDA HURRICANE RELIEF EFFORTS
Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns announced today that, in addition to the extensive resources USDA has committed to the hurricane Katrina response and recovery efforts, he has appointed two senior advisors to assist in coordinating these efforts in the affected region. USDA OFFERS EMERGENCY RELIEF PROGRAMS FOR FARMERS AND RANCHERS COPING WITH HURRICANE KATRINA DISASTER
Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns today announced that USDA is making more than $170 million in emergency assistance available to agricultural producers suffering from Hurricane Katrina. In addition, USDA�s Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) is implementing immediate changes to its Marketing Assistance Loan Program due to the hurricane.

USDA ANNOUNCES COMMODITY CREDIT CORPORATION LENDING RATES FOR SEPTEMBER 2005
The interest rate for 1995 and prior crop year commodity loans disbursed by USDA�s Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) during September 2005 is 3.875 percent, up from 3.500 percent in August 2005. For 1996 and subsequent crop year commodity and marketing assistance loans, the interest rate for loans disbursed during September 2005 is 4.875 percent, up from 4.500 percent in August 2005.
