Changes Approved Since Last Update

The following changes have been approved for implementation by the MARC Advisory
Committee, the Machine-Readable Bibliographic Information committee (MARBI),
the Canadian Committee on MARC (CCM) and the Book Industry Communications/Bibliographic
Standards Technical Subgroup (BIC/BSTS).
The following changes will be implemented no earlier than 90 days after the official release
of the next update for the MARC 21 Format for Bibliographic Data (scheduled
for the Fourth Quarter 2006).
- Field 008/18-19: (Proposal 2006-01)
- Code "mu" is redefined to indicate that field 047 is used, either for multiple MARC codes or for non-MARC codes.
- Field 047: (Proposal 2006-01)
- Define second indicator as Source of code
- Define subfield $2 (Source of code)
- Make field repeatable
- Field 506: (Proposal 2006-03)
- Define subfield $f (Standardized terminology for access restriction)
- Define subfield $2 (Source of term)
- Define indicator 1 as a restriction flag with the following values:
- # - No information provided
- 0 - No restrictions
- 1 - Restrictions apply
