Summary: This document summarizes a study that defines the U.S. economy devoted to early childhood, particularly infants, toddlers, and preschoolers (ITP) across States. The ITP economy was broken down into three sections: demographics, industry, and occupations. The demographic data are the richest. The industry data are more difficult to define with respect to the ITP market. The report presents the number of children (aged less than five), their household and poverty characteristics, and the number that are receiving early education services. Highlights of the data and questions for further research are listed. Demographic data tables are included.
