Dededo, Guam -- A CNMI/FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will open in Rota, December 28 to help those who suffered damage from Super Typhoon Pongsona, disaster officials announced today.

The Center will open at the following location.

Northern Mariana College Public Library Complex Rota, MP 96951

FEMA program staff will be available at the Disaster Recovery Center to address applicant questions. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and other agencies participating in the federal response to Super Typhoon Pongsona will also be represented. Hours will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.

The DRC staff is trained to provide information on FEMA housing programs, SBA disaster loans and other disaster assistance programs. There also will be information on Social Security and referral information for other assistance programs. Advice will be available on cost effective ways to prevent or reduce future typhoon damage.

Language interpreters will also be available to assist disaster victims at the Centers.

Those who have suffered damage from the storm should first call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) to register before visiting a DRC. People with speech- or hearing- impairments can call 1-800-462-7585. The teleregistration line hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week.
