In 2006, the number of reported HIV infection (not AIDS) cases among adults and adolescents from rural areas in 46 states with name-based HIV surveillance are as follows: Alabama, 82; Alaska, 6; Arizona, 29; Arkansas, 49;  California, 28; Colorado, 15; Connecticut, 23; Delaware, 117; Florida, 178; Georgia, 363; Idaho, 8; Illinois, 31; Indiana, 27; Iowa, 14; Kansas, 20; Kentucky, 49; Louisiana, 95; Maine, 120; Michigan, 23; Minnesota, 13; Mississippi, 153; Missouri, 41; Montana, 0; Nebraska, 7; Nevada, 5; New Hampshire, 18; New Jersey, 0; New Mexico, 21; New York, 110; North Carolina, 354; North Dakota, 1; Ohio, 47; Oklahoma, 38; Oregon, 7; Pennsylvania, 157; Rhode Island, 0; South Carolina, 115; South Dakota, 2; Tennessee, 51; Texas, 111; Utah, 0; Washington, 135; West Virginia, 30; Wisconsin, 24; Wyoming, 2.

The following areas did not conduct name-based HIV surveillance in 2006: District of Columbia (started in November 2006), Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Vermont.
