That does interfere with the type library idea.  How about
<hierarchicalTopic> to mirror <hierarchicalGeographic>?

So do we need both "topic" and "subject" now? Does anyone see
potential
confusion with MODS since "subject" in MODS means any field used as a
subject (including name and title)?
