Some validation errors are reported by the Xerces parser. In the definition of type "hierarchicalGeographic": [Error] : derivation-ok-restriction.2.2.a: Error for type 'hierar chicalGeographic'. The attribute use 'type' in this type does not have a matchi ng attribute use in the base, and the base type does not have a wildcard attribu te. This could be given a quick fix (i.e. add the requisite wildcard attribute to the mods-for-mads schema) but IMHO it more strongly points toward the usefulness of a common type library for MODS and MADS. In the definition of type "descriptors": [Error] : src-resolve: Cannot resolve the name 'HierarchicalGeogra phic' to a(n) 'type definition' component. Should be "hierarchicalGeographic". In the definition of type "otherElementsType": [Error] : src-resolve: Cannot resolve the name 'mods:IdentifierTy pe' to a(n) 'type definition' component. Should be "mods:identifierType". If XMLSpy doesn't catch these errors, you might take a look at Xerces from xml.apache.org; it's free. --Andy
