CDC Publications and Databases
The
Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) Series
The MMWR Series
is prepared by the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC). The MMWR weekly has data on
specific diseases, as reported by state and
territorial health departments, and reports on
infectious and chronic diseases, environmental
hazards, natural or man-made disasters, occupational
diseases and injuries, and intentional and
unintentional injuries. Also included are reports on
topics of international interest and notices of
events of interest to the public health community,
including autism spectrum disorders. To see a list
of MMWR publications related to ASDs, search
“autism” from the link above.
National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD)
NCBDDD staff members have written many scientific
papers on ASDs. To see a list of these papers
(starting in 1990), use the
keyword search on the NCBDDD publications
webpage. Choose "autism" in the keyword box on the
search page. You can choose whether you want the
list to be sorted by author or by date. You can also
choose to have the list appear with or without
graphics. Click on the Submit button. You will see a
list of papers about ASDs, along with a link to an
abstract of the paper or to the full text, when
available.
National Immunization Program
The
National Immunization Program at CDC provides a
searchable publication database as well as resources
to download. Several studies have looked at
whether there is a relationship between vaccines and
autism. The weight of the evidence indicates that
vaccines are not associated with autism. However,
CDC recognizes that some parents and others may have
concerns about this issue. We have conducted several
studies and are continuing to explore if vaccines are linked
to autism.
