OK, so my hunch was right: my RELAX NG version needs to be fixed! Thanks for the clarification. But since I stumbled on this, how about changing the definition of title and subTitle to allow foreign namespace elements? Having to stick redundant information in the extension element is not exactly ideal, and I do believe there's value in allowing for markup of this stuff. An XSLT stylesheet could just ignore the markup. Bruce
