Avian Influenza: State, National and Worldwide Response

Program Description:
According to the CDC and other public health data sources, there is a serious threat of a pandemic which would obviously have a great impact on public health professionals. Drs. Smith and Wallace will address the impact of an influenza pandemic on public health organizations and communities at the state, federal and international levels, and how to begin planning responses.

Objectives:
At the conclusion of the presentation, the participants will be able to:

  1. To understand the impact of a world-wide avian influenza outbreak
  2. To recognize the extensive planning needs required to deal with a pandemic
  3. To recognize established phases of a pandemic and perceived responses to each.

Continuing Education Units:
Nursing Contact Hours, CHES and CME credits are available upon completion of evaluation and post-test. More info about credits.

Who Should Attend:
National audience of state and local public health professionals and their partners (e.g., healthcare professionals, EMS personnel, law enforcement, media representatives, etc).
