The Atlas of Injury Mortality among American Indians and Alaska Native Children and Youth, 198998 was prepared by Reshma N. Patel, MPH, L.J. David Wallace, MSEH, and Dr. Len Paulozzi, MD, of the Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention (DUIP), National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC). Robyn Anderson, MPH, and Athalia Christie, MA, drafted the Atlas during their fellowship at NCIPC and were instrumental in launching the project forward. We thank Joseph Lee Annest, PhD, Director, Office of Statistics and Programming (OSP), NCIPC, and Kevin Webb, MS, also of OSP, for advising us and responding to our data and programming questions.

Throughout the process, we benefited from advice provided by NCIPC staff; without their help, the Atlas could not have been produced. We thank the following individuals for their ideas and recommendations during the conceptual design phase: Lawrence R. Berger, MD, MPH; Richard Smith, MS; LeMyra Debruyn PhD; Ann Dellinger PhD; David Grossman, MD, MPH; Jim Mercy, PhD; Kyran Quinlan, MD, MPH; Dennis Renville; Richard A. Schieber, MD, MPH; David Sleet PhD; and Pete Red Tomahawk.

A special thanks to Marilyn Kirk, Mary Ann Braun, Sandra Emrich, and Sevena Quattlebaum in the Office of Communication Resources for the design, layout, and production.
