Availability of New Mortality Data

The mortality data reported on NCIPC web pages come from death certificate data reported to the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). NCHS collects, compiles, verifies and prepares these data for release to the public. The process takes approximately 18 months after the end of a given year. Thus, 2001 mortality data will be available from NCHS in the 3rd quarter (summer) of  2003.  Once the data are released, then NCIPC must prepare the web pages which require additional time. You may expect to see 2001 mortality data available during the 3rd (summer) or 4th quarter (fall) of 2003.
