National Library of Sweden maintains the Union Catalog of Swedish libraries, LIBRIS. Information on KB, collections and digitized collections, news, exhibitions, and more. Links to catalog and internal as well as certain external databases are available in Swedish and English. A limited amount of information is in Finnish, Suomi, German, Spanish, French, and Russian.

The Union Catalog of Swedish Libraries, maintained by the Royal Library of Sweden, contains more than 5 million titles held at approximately 300 Swedish libraries, primarily academic and research libraries. The LIBRIS database consists of books and periodicals, articles, maps, printed music, and electronic resources. Special databases (including children's literature, ethnology, Jewish history, gender studies, and Sámi studies), which must be searched separately. Includes an articles and book chapters database of 300,000 entries and several subject bibliographies. In Swedish, some English.

OPB links to more than 25,000 freely available e-books. The site is hosted by the University of Pennsylvania Library and is created by a University of Pennsylvania researcher, who welcomes information about additional online books. Includes a few books on Scandinavia. Most can be found under the subject category "DL Northern Europe, Scandinavia." Searchable.

Linkoping University in Sweden makes freely available digital facsimiles of classic (Scandinavian) Nordic literature, most notably the Swedish encyclopedia, Nordisk familjebok, both its first edition (1876-99) and second edition (1904-26). Includes periodicals and classic authors. Lists titles and links to alphabetic catalog-which indicates author, year of publication, and language. In Swedish; partially in English.

History of the Book

Book History Online (http://www.kb.nl/bho/)
The National Library of the Netherlands (KB) has published since 1970 the annual International Bibliography of the History of the Printed Book and Libraries. The database version, Book History Online, is a searchable database in English on the history of the printed book and libraries. Search by any word, author/editor, title, keyword, country, century, and year of publication.

Archival Research Catalog (ARC) (http://www.archives.gov/research/arc/index.html)
ARC is the online catalog of the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). Search on Sweden.

Krigsarkivet (http://www.statensarkiv.se)
Military Archives of Sweden. Part of the National Archives of Sweden-with archives from the 16th century to the present. Includes links to maps and plans, publications, database, and more. In Swedish, introduction in English.

National Union Catalog of Manuscript Collections (http://www.loc.gov/coll/nucmc/)
Presents information about the cooperative cataloging program partnered by the Library of Congress and eligible archival and manuscript repositories throughout the United States. Provides gateway software for searching manuscript records in the RLG Union Catalog Archival and Mixed Collections File and the OCLC Mixed Materials File. Includes FAQs about the program, eligibility guidelines, downloadable data sheets, and links to Web sites on topics of interest to archivists and others, such as Repositories of Primary Materials, Copyright and Fair Use, and Encoded Archival Description.

Riksarkivet (http://www.statensarkiv.se)
National Archives of Sweden manages all public archives within Sweden. The National Archival Database, NAD, is a national database of records on individuals, estates, organizations, businesses, and authorities. Most of the information is in Swedish, including the links to other institutions and the web search capabilities. A general overview is provided in English, with contacts for the public archives.
