Transparency International assists governments and NGOs world-wide in monitoring, assessing and fighting corruption. It has established chapters in many countries, and the corresponding country websites often provide a wealth of informative documents, as well as links to anti-corruption websites.

An accomplished bibliography of 256 pages, with several supplementary indexes, edited by Margit Feischmidt and published in Budapest, 2001, by the Local Government and Public Service Reform Initiative. The full text is available for viewing or downloading in pdf.

Provides information from the 2000 census, including a section on languages and ancestry. Maintained by the U.S. Census Bureau.

United States Historical Census Data Browser (http://fisher.lib.virginia.edu/collections/stats/histcensus/)
Provides information from the U.S. censuses taken each ten years from 1790 to 1960. For the censuses from 1870 to 1960 it includes the number of persons in the U.S. who reported that they had been born in a specific country outside the United States. (Only a few East European countries make it into the list in 1870; some countries are not included until 1920.) This site is part of the University of Virginia Library; the information is made available with the cooperation of the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
