Braintrack University Index (http://www.braintrack.com)
The Ionos company in Switzerland maintains what is probably the largest world-wide list of online links to universities, polytechnics, colleges and other higher educational institutions. In English.

Center for the Study of Balkan Societies and Cultures (http://www-gewi.kfunigraz.ac.at/csbsc/)
Located at the University of Graz, Austria, the Center's website provides many resources related to education, as well as other materials on Balkan societies. The 'Publications' section includes the extensive "Education and Media in Southeast Europe: Country Reports." The 'Links' section includes a portal, 'Universities in Southeast Europe', linking to nearly one hundred universities.

Central and Eastern European Education Directory (http://www.ceebd.co.uk/ceeed/educatio.htm)
Maintained in England. Aims to provide comprehensive information on undergraduate and graduate programs offered by over 1,300 academic establishments in Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and the CIS. Over 80 programs in Romania are covered. In English.

ERIC Database (http://www.eric.ed.gov)
The U.S.-funded Educational Resources Information Center maintains this bibliographic/abstract database, containing more than one million citations to primarily English-language articles and other documents from 1966 to present. It contains thousands of citations pertaining to education in East European countries.

Ministries of Education - Europe and North America (http://www.unesco.org/education/partners/mined/mined.htm)
UNESCO provides this directory and partial portal of ministries of education in each country.

Worldwide Colleges and Universities (http://www.lmu.edu/globaled/wwcu/)
Maintained by UNESCO. For each country provides an overview of education, length of programs, teacher education, university admissions standards (including for foreign students), administrative bodies, student expenses, grading systems, etc. In English.
