This pathfinder includes links to both governmental and non-govermental organizations, associations, institutes, and foundations in Mexico. It is divided into the following sections: Academic & Research Centers | Culture | Cinema | Embassies | Environment | Libraries & Archives | Society The most important source for bibliography of books and articles concerning Mexico is the annual Handbook of Latin American Studies (http://lcweb2.loc.gov/hlas/) produced by over 130 contributing editors under the editorship of the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress. Additional coverage of journal articles can be found through a subscription to the Hispanic American Periodical Index (http://hapi.gseis.ucla.edu/).   Both the Handbook and HAPI are available in selected libraries in book form.   One of the major aggregators for links to a wide variety of subjects relating to regional resources for Latin America is the University of Texas' LANIC (http://lanic.utexas.edu/la/mexico/). Another site one should especially note is the site prepared by the Law Library of the Library of Congress for international and multinational information on their Guide to Law Online (http://www.loc.gov/law/guide/mexico.html).

Features the Center for Research and Higher Studies in Social Anthropology. The Colegio de Mexico is a public institution devoted to research and to higher education in the social sciences and humanities. INSTITUTO NACIONAL DE ANTROPOLOGIA E HISTORIA  (http://www.inah.gob.mx)
The National Institute of Anthropology and History(INAH)is "the federal government bureau established to guarantee the research, preservation, protection, and promotion of the prehistoric, archaeological, anthropological, historical, and paleontological heritage of Mexico." The English version of this Web site includes information about underwater archaeology and archeological sites in Mexico, museums and INAH centers. The Spanish version provides more features: a calendar of INAH events, online exhibitions, the INAH directory, and much more resources related to promotion, conservation, education, and research at INAH.

Official Web site of the National Film Commission México. Its mission is "to promote the production of films, TV programs and commercials in Mexico and to give assistance to all companies and producers interested in developing their projects in our country." It provides information in the following issues: industry infrastructure, locations in all Mexico, and legal matters. Features the film library of the UNAM (Universidad Autónoma de México). Provides information about its events, film screenings, and services, Also provides access to a radio magazine, and to a Mexican filmography database containing information about more than 12,000 titles produced in Mexico from 1896 up to now. In order to access this database, one has to register as a user (free service). In Spanish.

Features the Web site of the Mexican Institute of Cinematography (IMCINE). Provides information about the Institute: history and its role in Mexican production, promotion, and distribution.
