HAL E. HAGEMEIER

OPERATIONS MANAGER
NATIONAL SECURITY SPACE OFFICE (NSSO)

Hal E. Hagemeier is the Operations Manager for the National Security Space Office. As one of the NSSO senior executives, he is responsible to the Director for ensuring that NSSO products and processes are executed in a collaborative, objective, responsive manner to create strategic focus and unity of effort for National Security Space. In this capacity, he supervises the day-to-day integration and coordination of the activities of the NSSO line divisions. Prior to this position, he was the Assistant Director in the office of the National Security Space Architect. He developed corporate strategies, policies, and initiatives for the architect's office and worked with Congressional, Defense, Intelligence Community, and industry representatives to assess and disseminate architect products. He has had articles on space architecting published recently in the ISR Journal and the Joint Force Quarterly.

Mr. Hagemeier retired from the United States Air Force in 2001 after a 29 year career. He had assignments in the 544th Aerospace Reconnaissance Technical Wing at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska; the Aeronautical Systems Division at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio; the General Defense Intelligence Program staff at the Defense Intelligence Agency in the Pentagon; the Office of Space Systems on the staff of the Secretary of the Air Force; Air Force Space Command headquarters at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado; the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization in the Pentagon, and the National Security Space Architect office in Fairfax, Virginia.

Mr. Hagemeier has a Bachelor of Science degree with highest honors in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He is also a Distinguished Graduate from the Air Force Institute of Technology Resident Program at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio, with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. His thesis was published in Applied Optics. His professional military education included Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, and the National War College, Fort McNair, Washington, D.C. One of his research papers was published in Comparative Strategy.

His military awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and Air Force Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters. Mr. Hagemeier is a registered Professional Engineer and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Optical Society of America, the Association of Old Crows, the Air Force Association, Tau Beta Pi, Eta Kappa Nu, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Mensa.
