John Scott Redd
Vice Admiral, United States Navy (Ret.)
Director National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC)


Vice Admiral (VADM) Scott Redd was sworn in as the first Senate-confirmed Director of the National Counterterrorism Center on August 1, 2005. A native of Sidney, Iowa, VADM Redd graduated with the United States Naval Academy class of 1966. Following graduation, he studied as a Fulbright Scholarship in Uruguay and as a Burke Scholar, receiving a Master of Science degree in Operations Analysis. VADM Redd is past President of the Naval Academy Class of 1966 and has served on the advisory boards of several non-profit organizations, including the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) and the Reformed Theological Seminary. An avid amateur radio operator, VADM Redd has won six world championships.

Prior to his assignment as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, VADM Redd served as Executive Director for the Commission on the Intelligence Capabilities of the United States Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction from May 2004 to May 2005. The Commission's report has been adopted as the President's blueprint for implementation of Intelligence Community reform. Earlier in 2004, VADM Redd served as Deputy Administrator and Chief Operating Officer of the Coalition Provisional Authority in Baghdad, Iraq, serving as one of two Deputies to Ambassador L. Paul Bremer.

VADM Redd retired from active military service in 1998. During his 36 years of active duty service he commanded eight organizations and served in several senior policy positions in the Pentagon. Following retirement he served as CEO of two private sector companies, including Net Schools Corp.



Richie Meade


Navy Lacrosse head coach Richie Meade. He has brought the mids to two consecutive title runs and helped re-establish Navy's dominance in the sport.



Dr. Howard Prince


He is a West Point graduate and retired Army Brigadier General with service in Vietnam. He established the first undergraduate leadership degree program (in the world) while at the University of Richmond and was instrumental in developing leadership programs that changed the Army's leadership development approach while a professor at West Point. Dr. Prince is also a clinical psychologist and can provide insight into the formation of a diverse team and motivational tactics.



Colonel Adrienne Fraser-Darling, USMC


Colonel Adrienne Fraser-Darling is a native of New Rochelle, New York and one of eight children. She attended Officer Candidates School and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1981. Her current assignment as of June 2006 is to the Deputy Undersecretary of Defense. Prior to her current duty, she served a two-year unaccompanied tour as the commander of Headquarters and Service Battalion for the III Marine Expeditionary Force and the commander of camps Foster and Lester in Okinawa, Japan. She was head of the Enlisted Assignments Branch at U.S. Marine Corps Headquarters in Washington, which she took command of in 2002. She was the first woman officer in charge of manpower for the Marine Corps. She was working in the Pentagon on September 11, 2001 when the terrorist attacks occurred.

Other assignments include the Lieutenant Colonel (LDO) and Major (LDO) selection board president for fiscal year 2006 as well as the country director for Tunisia and Morocco during the Secretary of Defense's visit in October 2000. She has also commanded the 4th Recruit Battalion at Parris Island, the only Marine unti which trains female recruits.

She is married to retired Marine Lieutenant Colonel Michael McCormick for 17 years and has three older step-children and three adopted children who are in their teens.



Mike Ferretti


The President and CEO of Great Harvest Bread Company. He has a solid background in small business practice as a franchisee and franchisor and heads a successful company. Mr.Ferretti is also an experienced presenter on his management beliefs and practices.



Colonel Art Athens, USMCR


The Superintendent of the United States Naval Academy appointed Colonel Arthur J. Athens as the Academy's first Distinguished Military Professor of Leadership on 14 July 2003.

Born and reared in Huntington, New York, Colonel Athens attended the U.S. Naval Academy where he served as Brigade Commander, lettered on the varsity lacrosse team, and received both the Alumni Association Award and the Coaches' Calvert Award. He graduated with distinction in 1978 and was commissioned in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his active duty career, he held significant staff and command positions in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Marine Aircraft Wings.

Colonel Athens also served as the Anti-air Warfare Instructor and Academic Dean at Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron-l and taught Computer Science at the U.S. Naval Academy where he received the Clements Award as the outstanding military educator. While assigned to the Naval Academy, he became a White House Fellow and served at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Colonel Athens earned a master's degree in Information Systems from the Naval Postgraduate School, where he stood first in his graduating class, as well as a master's in Military Arts and Sciences from the U.S. Army's School of Advanced Military Studies.

Colonel Athens left active duty in 1994 to serve as the Executive Director of OCF, a worldwide organization assisting military officers to lead with integrity and integrate their personal faith and professional responsibilities. After leading OCF for five years, Colonel Athens assumed responsibilities as the Commandant of Midshipmen at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, one of the Nation's five federal service academies. He remained as Commandant until his selection as the Distinguished Military Professor.

When Colonel Athens resigned his active duty commission, he transferred to the Marine Corps Reserves and has been a Space Operations Officer for the U.S. Space Command, the Commanding Officer of Marine Air Control Squadron 24, and a Strategic Analyst at Headquarters Marine Corps. His current reserve assignment is with the Marine Corps University where he helped establish the John A. Lejeune Leadership Institute whose mission is to advance the study and practice of leadership excellence throughout the Marine Corps.

Most recently, Colonel Athens volunteered to coach the Northern High School Boys' Lacrosse Team and led the team to their first Regional Championship and a third place finish in the state of Maryland. The Washington Post selected Colonel Athens as their Coach of the Year.

Colonel Athens is married to the former Mistina Root of Williamsburg, VA. They have ten children, raging in age from twenty four to eight.

The Corbin Leadership Summit is a dynamic three-day conference hosted annually by the U.S. Naval Academy. Approximately 90 students from service academies and colleges across the country join Naval Academy midshipmen in small workshop settings to explore human relations topics such as diversity, dignity and respect, group dynamics and social psychology. The conference is geared towards the appreciation and application of these topics in positions of leadership. Distinguished speakers and panelists will discuss with participants important aspects of this year's theme, "Empowering the Team to Own the Mission."
