Letter from Thomas Jefferson to James Monroe, dated 24 October 1823, in which the former president reacts strongly and positively to President Monroe's proposed doctrine forbidding European governments from establishing colonies in the New World.

At the Moscow Conference in August 1942, W. Averell Harriman, President Franklin Roosevelt's special representative, met with Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin to discuss the Soviet proposal for a second- front assault on Germany.

In this letter to John Hay, President Theodore Roosevelt instructed his secretary of state to oversee personally the negotiations to secure perpetual control of the Panama Canal.

In 1946 Archibald Roosevelt, a United States intelligence officer, was one of the few Westerners to reach Mahabad, capital of a newly formed Kurdish republic.
