Summary: This brochure presents national facts on child abuse. Guidelines for reporting and investigating child abuse in Indian Country are included. Incidents of child abuse in Indian Country are underreported. The brochure describes penalties for failure to report abuse. Any person aware of child abuse should immediately make an oral report to their local law enforcement agency or local child protective services agency. The rights of victims of Federal crimes are listed in the brochure.
