Summary: This notebook presents information for promoting and supporting the health and safety of children in Tribal child care communities. The section “Policies/Practices/Caregiver Training” includes information on staffing ratios, caregiver qualifications, caregiver training, and program policies. The section “Building and Premises” contains information on safe environments, nurturing and enriching environments, and transportation. The section “Infection Control” highlights immunizations, sanitation, hand washing, food safety, care of ill children, and caregiver health. A section titled “Effective Practices for Supporting Children’s Social-Emotional Development and Preventing Challenging Behaviors” is also included.
