Clip #1: Listen (:41) Download(4.3mb)
Transcript:
Gregg Wiggins: It's known as "The Nation's Report Card," and it's showing "significant improvement" in reading and math.
Secretary Paige: Every single child can learn. And these results show that.
Gregg Wiggins: Education Secretary Rod Paige also welcomes the broad-based nature of the findings in the latest National Assessment of Educational Progress report.
Secretary Paige: Again, I want to point out that these gains extend across nearly all subgroups. Importantly, African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans and low income students account for some of the most significant improvements.
Gregg Wiggins: This is the first assessment covering all fifty states since the education reforms of the No Child Left Behind Act were passed two years ago. In washington, I'm Gregg Wiggins... for the U.S. Department of Education.
Clip #2: Listen (:11) Download(1.3mb)
Transcript: What we see in these results represents for us a strong beginning, and it also tells us that the infrastructure, the framework and foundation, is solid and we're moving in the right direction.
Clip #3: Listen (:08) Download(.82mb)
Transcript: We're nowhere near satisfied with what we're trying to get accomplished. We'll only be satisfied when the achievement gap is completely closed and all students are reading at very high levels.
