Major Concepts/Content:

The Marine Corps JROTC III course focuses on the development of advanced leadership skills along with the following sub-courses:

Major Instructional Activities:

Instructional activities will be conducted in a general classroom setting, the media center, computer lab, and the community environment.  Instructors serve as positive role models and facilitators of student learning and development of critical thinking skills in the context of a safe and positive learning environment that fosters individual growth, mutual respect and personal accountability.  Educational activities will be varied and be attuned to student cultural diversity and multiple intelligences.  Techniques and strategies include; oral presentations by students, small group discussions, student working groups, student projects, group and individual research projects, guest lecturers, Socratic seminars, dramatizations, role playing, and participation in school/ community support projects.

Major Evaluative Techniques:

Students will be evaluated for class participation and completion of all assignments. Assignments include writing papers, oral/written testing, oral presentations, practical application of learned skills, and performance of assigned duties.  These activities support and augment the goals of reading, writing, and math across the curriculum to assist the overall development of student literacy, and critical thinking, leadership and management skills. 

Essential Objectives:

In addition to the essential objectives for the Marine Corps JROTC I and II courses, the students should be able to assume mid-level leadership billets and responsibilities within the program. Under the guidance of the JROTC Instructors students should be able to assist in planning, organizing, and supervising designated classes and school/community support requests.
