Fishing
Those
who enjoy fishing are not alone in appreciating Nimrod. There are
many different fish species found in the waters of Lake Nimrod.
Some of these fish include catfish, bluegill, bass, and crappie.
Anglers have become accustomed to large “slab” crappie
tugging on their hooks and making their bobbers dance for year-around
angling on Nimrod.
The
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission have the responsibility and propagation
of native and introduced fish species. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission have cooperated at various
times in the past on fishery management programs on Nimrod Lake.
The
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Arkansas Game and Fish Commission
conducted a fishery restoration project on Nimrod Lake in 1999.
Part of this project included placing bundles of small hardwood
trees for fish attractors. The attractors were then marked with
buoys and maps were made. A map of the fish attractors can be found
under the downloadable items.
