  5. RELEASE DATES:
    1. Securities and Banking Data - Monthly.
      Data on transactions in long-term securities and on banking claims and liabilities are UPDATED on or about the 11th business day of each month, with a 1.5 month lag. The time of release is normally at 09:00 a.m. in Washington D.C.
      -- The 2008 release dates are Jan 16, Feb 15, Mar 17, Apr 15, May 15, June 16, July 16, Aug 15, Sept 16, Oct 16, Nov 18 and Dec 15.
      -- The 2009 release dates are Jan 16, Feb 17, Mar 16, Apr 15, May 15, June 15, July 16, Aug 17, Sept 16, Oct 16, Nov 17 and Dec 15.

      Notes on Revisions of monthly and quarterly data:
      (a) The January, April, July, and October releases reflect revised data for the past year. For significant revisions, the release will reflect revised data beyond the past year. All other releases reflect revised data for the prior 3 months.
      (b) In the monthly table showing Major Foreign Holders of U.S. Treasury Securities, revised data back to the previous June are released in April or May to include preliminary data from the annual survey of foreign holdings of U.S. securities at end-June of the previous year. The June release will usually include the final results from that survey.


    2. Securities & Banking Analysis & Charts - Quarterly. Covers transactions in long-term securities and banking claims and liabilities. The time of release is normally at 09:00 a.m. in Washington D.C. The 2008 release dates are February 15, May 15, August 15, and November 18. The 2009 release dates are Feb 17, May 15, Aug 17, and Nov 17.


    3. Securities Holdings Data - Annual.
      Two complementary surveys measure cross-border portfolio holdings of securities. The time of release is normally at 04:00 p.m. in Washington D.C.
      (a) Foreign Portfolio Holdings of U.S. Securities. Annual data are available beginning as of June 30, 2002. Preliminary data for the survey as of June 30, 2008 will be released on February 27, 2009; the final report will be released on April 30, 2009. Previously, detailed benchmark surveys were conducted approximately every five years, for end-year 1974, 1978, 1984, 1989, and 1994 and for end-March 2000.
      (b) U.S. Portfolio Holdings of Foreign Securities. Annual data are available beginning as of December 31, 2003. Preliminary data from the survey as of December 31, 2007 will be released on August 29, 2008; the final report will be released on October 31, 2008. Previously, detailed benchmark surveys were conducted as of March 31, 1994, year-end 1997, and year-end 2001.


    4. Quarterly Derivatives data on holdings and cash settlements. The time of release is normally at 09:00 a.m. in Washington D.C. The 2008 release dates are January 16, April 15, July 16, and October 16. The 2009 release dates are Jan 16, Apr 15, July 16, and Oct 16.


    5. Quarterly Nonbanking Claims and Liabilities. The time of release is normally at 09:00 a.m. in Washington D.C. The 2008 release dates are March 17, June 16, September 16, and December 15. The 2009 release dates are Mar 16, June 15, Sept 16, and Dec 15.


    6. Quarterly U.S. Gross External Debt data are released with a one quarter lag. In every year, the release dates are on the last business day of March, June, September, and December.

      Notes on Revisions: Revised data for the previous June, September and December are normally released on the last business day of June. Revisions include the results of the Survey of Foreign Holdings of U.S. Securities at the end of the previous June.
