General Information
Bicycles are permitted on the state highways, and bicycle trails are located within the MWCD park.
A Public Launch ramp for the boating enthusiasts and fishermen is available near the Atwood Lake Dam year round.
Camping at Atwood Lake is available through MWCD @ (330)-343-6780 or visit their website @ www.mwcdlakes.com.

Federal Recreation passes such as Golden Age, Golden Access, or America the Beautiful – National Park and Federal Recreation Lands Access Passes are not honored at MWCD facilities, but anyone over the age of 60 or those who have a Golden Buckeye Card receive a 10% discount.

Fishing is permitted at the Atwood Lake Day Use Area and below the dam.
Atwood lake is located on the Indian Fork of the Conotton Creek, 4 miles southeast of New Cumberland, Ohio, and 18 miles east of Dover, Ohio, in Tuscarawas County, on State Route 212. Atwood Lake was constructed primarily for flood control, recreation, fish and wildlife management. The Atwood Dam is a rolled earth fill with impervious core, 65 feet high, 3,700 feet long, with a top width of 30 feet, and a base width of 360 feet. The recreation facilities at Atwood Lake are administered by the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy. For tours of Atwood Dam, Intake Structure, and Flood Control Facilities contact the Project Supervisor @ (330)-343-5611. Restrooms are provided at the Atwood Lake Day Use Area on a seasonal basis (April – October).
Universally Accessible Facilities are provided at the Atwood Lake Day Use Area on a seasonal basis (April – October).
Limited hiking is available around Atwood Dam. A more extensive hiking trail system is available within Atwood Lake Park.
No significant historical / cultural areas are present at Atwood Lake.
Horseback riding is available from private businesses near the MWCD park.

There are two marinas located on the lake, which are operated by private enterprise. For all boating inquiries contact Atwood Lake Boats @ (330)-364-4703.
Picnic sites are available at the Atwood Lake Day Use Area adjacent to the dam. Additional Picnic Site and Picnic Shelters are located within the Atwood Lake Park. For more information contact Atwood Lake Park Office @ (330)-343-6780.
No swimming areas are available at this project. MWCD has designated three designated swimming areas (one is within the park & two are by boat access). For more information contact Atwood Lake Park Office @ (330) 343-6780.
No Visitor Center is available at this project. MWCD has an Activity Center within its park. This facility provides day to day information on campground activities and current events. The Activity Center is staffed April – October or upon request out of season. For more information contact Atwood Lake Park Office @ (330)-343-6780.
