National Survey of Adoptive Parents

This survey provides nationally representative estimates on the characteristics, pre-adoption experiences, and post-adoption support experiences of families of adopted children ages 0 to 17 years. These children were identified in other SLAITS surveys as being adopted through the US foster care system, domestic private adoption agencies, or international adoption.

Period of Data Collection:  April 2007 - Summer 2008

Sample Size:  Approximately 2,000 completed interviews with an adoptive parent of a child 0 to 17 years of age

Sampling Frame:  Parents who have adopted a child 0 to 17 years old through the US foster care system, domestic private adoption agencies, or internationally, who was identified as adopted in the 2007 National Survey of Children's Health (NSCH).

Data Collection:  Data are collected over the telephone. SLAITS data collection is conducted under contract with the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago (NORC).
