The Bureau of Consular Affairs of the U.S. Department of State presents a February 28, 2001 consular information sheet for East Timor. East Timor is in a state of transition to full independence from Indonesia and is currently under the authority of the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET). The bureau includes information about entry requirements, safety and security, crime, traffic safety, and more. There is a temporary U.S. representative in East Timor, but no official consular presence.
