Information about the source of fruits used by the artists is from notes on the paintings or from notes on the storage folders. Comments about the cultivar origins is from "Nomenclature of the Pear; A catalog-index of the known varieties referred to in American publications from 1804 to 1907" - USDA Bulletin No. 126 compiled by W.H. Ragan and issued in June 30, 1908.
