Acquisition Exchange Program

Background

The Defense Procurement (DPAP) Acquisition Exchange Program (AEP) provides a unique career developmental experience for high-caliber individuals in acquisition and acquisition-related career fields.

The AEP represents a serious commitment on the part of DPAP to provide a valuable career development experience to individuals in the acquisition community.

Objective

The AEP provides insight and hands-on experience about the development and implementation of DoD-wide acquisition policy issues. The assigned projects offer successful candidates an opportunity to enhance their acquisition and senior-level policymaking skills, develop their managerial and leadership skills, and prepare for future positions within the acquisition community.

Applying for the DPAP AEP Program

To apply for acceptance into the AEP, candidates must review the DPAP project descriptions, select areas of interest, and submit a completed application package along with a current resume.

Selection Process

After the closing date of the announcement, the AEP Program Manager will forward the application packages to the DPAP Deputy Directors for their review. The Deputy Directors will review the applications and, if required, interview the applicants to determine who are best suited for the current opportunities and assignments.

Specific elements of each rotational assignment will be negotiated between the office of the Director of DPAP, the participant, and the participant's home Military Department/Defense Agency senior procurement executive and/or immediate supervisor. Specific assignments will be based on urgency of requirements, the participant's senior procurement executive and/or supervisory input, and length of the rotational assignment.

Once these evaluations are completed, the Deputy Directors will prioritize and forward their recommendations/nominations to the AEP Program Manager. He will then forward a nomination package to the Director of DPAP for final approval.

The Deputy Directors will notify selected candidates within 30 days after the closing date of announcement..

Future AEP opportunities will be posted here on the DPAP Web site.

Please be aware that coverage of travel and temporary relocation expenses are not reimbursed by DPAP.
