Where will book lovers gather this month to celebrate the joys of reading? The second National Book Festival. Once again, this event is being sponsored by the Library of Congress and first lady Laura Bush.

The Book Festival is on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol and the National Mall.

This year, we have more than 70 award-winning and nationally known authors, illustrators, and storytellers to delight you with their readings and performances. Bring your family and friends to enjoy them and the live storybook characters, musical entertainment, and food. Books by the authors will be available for sale and book signings have been scheduled throughout the day.
